Additional information

Morocco issued this coin to mark Mohammed VI's fiftieth birthday in August 2013, a milestone the palace treated as an occasion for measured national celebration rather than overt spectacle — consistent with the king's carefully managed public image since his accession in 1999. His early reign had been defined by the Equity and Reconciliation Commission, established in 2004 to address human rights abuses under Hassan II, and by significant constitutional reforms accelerated by the 2011 Arab Spring protests. The 28.28g .925 silver specification places it squarely in the Royal Mint of Belgium production run that supplied several Bank Al-Maghrib commemoratives of this period.
