Obverse description Portrait of Sun Yat-sen in an oval vignette at left, set against an intricate guilloche underprint in green. The denomination 貳拾伍圓 is rendered in large Chinese characters within an elaborate guilloche rosette at center-right. Signature titles GENERAL MANAGER and CASHIER appear in letterpress at the lower center, with the bank title 中國銀行 inscribed across the upper portion of the note.

Reverse description An oval vignette at right frames the Temple of Heaven, Beijing, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. At center, a large guilloche rosette surrounds the numeral 25 in bold typography, flanked by repeated denomination numerals along the borders. The inscriptions BANK OF CHINA and TWENTY FIVE YUAN 1940 appear in letterpress at the top and bottom respectively, with the printer's imprint of the American Bank Note Company at the lower margin.
