| Obverse description | The obverse of this oval proof coin features a star-filled night sky against a mirror-polished field, with the Turkish crescent moon and star prominently displayed in the upper centre. The curved legend 'TÜRKİYE CUMHURİYETİ' arcs along the upper rim, while the series inscription 'SELÇUKLU DÖNEMİ BURÇ TASVİRLERİ' appears in two lines across the centre of the field. The denomination '25 YTL' and the date '2008' are inscribed along the lower portion of the oval. Two decorative Seljuk-style rosette ornaments flank the central text, reinforcing the series' medieval Anatolian artistic theme. |

The "Yeni" (New) designation on Turkish lira coinage was introduced in 2005 as part of a redenomination that dropped six zeros from the old lira — one of the most dramatic currency resets in modern European or Near Eastern monetary history. By 2008, the government was already planning to retire the "Yeni" prefix, which it did in 2009, making this a transitional issue with a lifespan of just four years under that designation.
The rectangular flan is worth noting as a production choice: the Taurus series was struck in this format specifically for the collector market, not circulation.
