Reverse description The reverse displays a richly detailed Seljuk-style relief composition representing the zodiac sign of Aquarius (Kova), inspired by medieval Anatolian manuscript iconography. A central anthropomorphic figure rendered in traditional Seljuk artistic convention is depicted kneeling and pouring water, surrounded by fantastical hybrid creatures including a canine and a reptilian beast, all set against a mirror-polished field strewn with small stars and dots. The engraver's initial 'N' appears in the lower field near the base of the composition. The legend 'KOVA' (Turkish for Aquarius) is incused along the upper rim in bold Latin letters.

Additional information

Part of a twelve-coin zodiac series issued by the Turkish State Mint in the mid-2000s, these pieces were struck as collector items during a period when Turkey was still adjusting to the "Yeni" (New) Lira redenomination introduced in 2005 — a reform that lopped six zeros off the old lira to end decades of triple-digit inflation and four-digit banknotes. The rectangular format is the tell: the series deliberately used non-circular flans to distinguish collector issues from circulating coinage.
