Additional information

Part of Mongolia's first modern commemorative series, issued under the Mongolian People's Republic in cooperation with the British Royal Mint, which struck several of these pieces on contract. The argali — the world's largest wild sheep, native to the mountain ranges of Central Asia — was chosen alongside other endemic fauna as the subject matter, reflecting a Soviet-era pattern of using wildlife themes to generate hard currency through foreign coin collectors rather than domestic circulation.

KM#36 carries relatively low mintage figures, though precise numbers are difficult to confirm across sources.
