Reverse description The crowned Lion of Judah, the imperial symbol of Ethiopia, is depicted passant to the right with its raised right foreleg grasping an upright staff or pole bearing a ribboned cross, symbolizing royal and religious authority. The lion wears an imperial crown upon its maned head and stands upon a ground line, its tail curling upward behind. The denomination legend in Ge'ez script, ሃያ፡አምስት፡ሳንቲም (Twenty-Five Santeem), is inscribed in two lines along the lower field beneath the lion, spanning nearly the full width of the coin.
