Obverse description The national coat of arms of the Republic of Seychelles occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield featuring a palm tree, a giant tortoise, two sailfish, and ocean waves, supported by two marlins rampant and surmounted by a white tern in flight. A scroll beneath the shield bears the Latin motto FINIS·CORONAT·OPUS, meaning 'The end crowns the work.' The curved legend REPUBLIC OF SEYCHELLES arcs along the upper periphery in bold raised lettering, while the date 1994 appears in the lower field. A mintmaster's privy mark (PM) is visible to the lower left of the arms.
