Additional information

Issued to mark the fifteenth birthday of Prince William in 1997, this coin belongs to a wave of Commonwealth commemoratives produced during a period when royal-themed issues were already saturating the collector market. Seychelles, like several small island nations, licensed such pieces primarily as revenue instruments rather than circulating currency — the coins were never intended to reach everyday commerce.

The 28.28g .925 silver specification was by the late 1990s a near-universal standard for Commonwealth commemorative issues, coordinated largely through the Royal Mint's overseas programme.
