The Terek-Daghestan Territory was one of the shortest-lived political entities to emerge from the chaos following the October Revolution — it existed for only a matter of months in 1918 before collapsing under pressure from both Bolshevik forces and internal ethnic conflicts between the Terek Cossacks and the mountain peoples of the region. Its paper money was accordingly an improvisation, issued out of administrative necessity rather than any functioning central bank structure.
P#S527 falls within the broader "S" classification of Russian civil war provisionals — notes whose issuers were often defunct before the ink was fully dry.
