| Obverse description | At centre, the two-headed eagle emblem of the Bank of Russia after the design of Ivan Bilibin, depicted without a shield on its breast, occupies the field within a circle of dots. A semicircular inscription «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA) appears below the eagle within the beaded border. Along the upper rim runs the denomination legend «ДВАДЦАТЬ ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ» (TWENTY FIVE ROUBLES) and the date «1999» appears at the lower rim. To the left of the eagle, the metal designation and fineness «Ag 900» are inscribed in the field; to the right, the fine metal content «155,5» and the Moscow Mint monogram «ММД» are indicated. |

| Reverse description | A richly detailed allegorical composition commemorating Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin dominates the reverse. In the foreground at centre, a full-length figure of Pushkin is shown strolling, walking stick in hand, with the stylized ghostly contour of Onegin depicted behind him. In the lower left portion of the field, a double portrait in an oval medallion, a pair of duelling pistols, and a letter allude to Pushkin's fatal duel, while below these elements a country estate and a troika of rearing horses harnessed to a carriage are rendered in fine detail. To the upper right, the skyline silhouette of St. Petersburg is evoked, accompanied by a seated female figure before whom a man kneels, and in the lower right a candlestick with flame, an inkwell with a goose quill, and a sealed envelope symbolise the poet's literary life. Along the lower rim, the inscription «АЛЕКСАНДР ПУШКИН» (ALEXANDER PUSHKIN) appears together with the birth and death years «1799» and «1837» in two lines. |
