Issued to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of Transnistria's 1990 declaration of sovereignty, this commemorative note is unusual in that it carries the date 30 April 1945 — not as a production date, but as the historical reference point being honored: the Soviet victory in Europe, which the Transnistrian authorities explicitly tied to their own national narrative. The Transnistrian Republican Bank has consistently used commemorative issues to anchor the breakaway republic's identity to Soviet-era symbolism, and this series is among the more deliberate examples of that policy.
The note circulates at face value alongside regular issues, which is uncommon for commemoratives in the post-Soviet space.
