The Korçë 25 Qint note of 1921 belongs to one of the more unusual episodes in Albanian monetary history. Following the withdrawal of French occupation forces — who had administered the region as the Autonomous Republic of Korçë since 1916 — the town found itself without a functioning currency supply. Local authorities filled the gap by issuing their own emergency fractional notes, backed by nothing more formal than municipal authority and a rubber stamp.

The "Katundaria e Korçës" designation translates roughly as the rural commune or inhabitants of Korçë — a deliberately local framing that reflects the improvised, community-level nature of the issue. These were stopgap instruments, not products of any central banking apparatus.

The qint denominations are among the smallest face values in Albanian numismatic history, which tells you something about the acute small-change shortage driving the issue.
