Issued to mark the centenary of Queen Victoria's death in January 1901, this piece belongs to a broader commemorative program Guernsey ran around the turn of the millennium. The choice to honor Victoria rather than produce a generic millennial issue was a deliberate one — Victoria's long reign had defined Guernsey's relationship with the Crown across most of the nineteenth century, and the island retained particular affection for the period.
KM#107 is a relatively low-mintage bullion-adjacent issue, struck in fractional format at the Channel Islands' customary small scale.
