| Additional information |
Issued the year after Diana's death anniversary had passed its fifth year, this Alderney gold piece belongs to a wave of commemorative issues that flooded the market in the late 1990s and early 2000s as Channel Island dependencies exploited their Crown dependency status to produce legal tender coinage with no obligation to circulate it. Alderney, with a resident population under 2,500, has no practical mint relationship with daily commerce — these pieces are produced entirely for the collector market under license.
KM#28 corresponds to a series that Pobjoy Mint struck on behalf of the States of Alderney.
