| Additional information |
HMS Ark Royal (R07), the Invincible-class carrier commissioned in 1985, was still in active service when this piece was issued — she wouldn't be decommissioned until 2011, making this a rare case of a commemorative coin honoring a warship that hadn't yet been retired. Guernsey's gold issues of this period were produced in relatively small quantities for the collector market, with the Royal Mint handling production under contract.
