Additional information

Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, this is one of several competing commemorative gold issues released simultaneously by British Crown Dependencies in 1997 — Guernsey, Jersey, and the Isle of Man all struck their own versions, creating a minor collector's glut that dampened secondary market premiums almost immediately upon release.
