| Reverse description | The reverse displays an enlarged, boldly rendered detail of the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom, divided into four quarters by a cruciform arrangement of the sceptre. The upper-left and lower-right quarters show the three golden lions passant guardant of England; the upper-right quarter depicts the rampant lion of Scotland above the harp of Ireland; the lower-left quarter features a fleur-de-lis and crown. Additional heraldic elements including a Tudor rose and thistle embellish the central intersection. The denomination £25 is inscribed in the upper-right field within a plain rectangular panel. |

Alderney's jubilee gold issues from 2002 occupy an awkward corner of the commemorative market — technically legal tender of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, but produced explicitly for collector sale with no circulation intent whatsoever. The States of Alderney had been issuing commemorative coinage since the 1990s largely as a revenue mechanism, contracting production to the Royal Mint and private minters depending on the series.
The specification here — 7.98g at .917 fineness — matches the quarter-sovereign format precisely.
