Additional information

Alderney — a Crown dependency with its own commemorative coin program but no circulating currency of its own — has issued collector pieces under Royal Mint production arrangements for decades, with the Remembrance series among its more sustained runs. A 155-gram, 65mm gold piece at .916 fineness places this firmly in the five-ounce category, a format reserved almost exclusively for prestige collector editions with print runs typically measured in the dozens rather than thousands.

Alderney's particular connection to Remembrance is not ceremonial. The island was the only British territory to suffer full civilian evacuation and Nazi occupation during World War II, from 1940 to 1945, during which a significant portion of its population never returned.
