The Greyhound of Richmond is one of the ten heraldic beasts drawn from the supporters and badges of the Tudor dynasty, revived for Henry VIII's coronation procession and later formalized in the Queen's Beasts program that the Royal Mint first adapted for coinage in the 1990s. This 2025 issue continues the current iteration of that series under Charles III, whose cypher replaced Elizabeth II's following her death in September 2022 — making this among the earlier definitive gold issues to carry his effigy in a collector series of this lineage.
