Obverse description The Sudanese national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a secretary bird with wings displayed, set upon a shield and flanked by two scrolls. A ribbon or banner appears above the bird. Surrounding the central device, bilingual legends in Arabic and Latin script arc around the upper and lower periphery of the field, referencing the Democratic Republic of Sudan, the denomination of 25 pounds (rendered as both LS. 25 and the Arabic numeral ٢٥), the Hijri year 1400, the Gregorian year 1979, and the inscription ISLAMIC WORLD 15TH CENTURY. The coin exhibits a prooflike finish with strong relief on all design elements.
