Obverse description The National Emblem of Bangladesh occupies the central field, featuring a water lily (shapla) rendered in relief, flanked on either side by upright rice sheaves. Tea leaves are depicted at the upper portion of the emblem, and four five-pointed stars are arranged above, symbolising the four founding principles of the 1972 constitution: nationalism, secularism, socialism, and democracy. The emblem is presented without a surrounding legend, the design occupying the full face of the coin in a formal heraldic style.

Reverse description A centrally positioned Rohu fish (Labeo rohita, known as Rui in Bengali) is depicted in profile, rendered in naturalistic relief. The inscription বাংলাদেশ (Bangladesh) arcs along the upper margin, with the date ১৯৭৩ (1973) inscribed below the country name. The denomination is expressed in the lower portion of the field in both numerals (২৫) and Bengali script (পঁচিশ পয়সা), providing a bilingual value statement within a clear and uncluttered layout.
