Obverse description The Imperial German eagle displayed in high relief, facing left with wings spread, surmounted by a crown above the head. The breast of the eagle bears an escutcheon featuring the Hohenzollern arms, with the Order chain encircling the shield. The talons clutch the imperial orb and sceptre, and the design fills the field in a bold, sculptural style with no surrounding legend.
