The central panel bears a heraldic coat of arms with an ornate helm crest and mantling above a diagonally divided shield, surmounted by a serial number. Comments

Bockenem is a small market town in Lower Saxony, and during the notgeld period following the First World War, the near-total collapse of small-denomination coinage pushed local businesses and municipalities to print their own emergency scrip. Rehmann's print shop was both issuer and printer — a common arrangement in provincial German towns where the local Buchdrucker simply ran off what the community needed.

Self-issued notgeld printed by the issuer's own press invites obvious questions about quantity controls. No external authority regulated how many Rehmann printed for Rehmann.
