| Reverse description | The central field is dominated by a large, boldly rendered numeral 25 set against a granulated background within a rectangular frame, flanked on each side by a tall ear of grain rendered in relief. The upper portion of the field bears a rectangular panel with the two-line legend KLEINGELD / ERSATZMARKE in incuse relief lettering, surmounted by a decorative foliate cartouche. Below the central numeral, a horizontal panel carries the patriotic German wartime motto VIEL FEIND, VIEL EHR (Many enemies, much honour), beneath which an Iron Cross is displayed centrally within a further decorative register. Scrolling and geometric ornamental devices fill the remaining field areas, lending the design a characteristically Art Nouveau quality typical of World War I German notgeld issues. |
