Obverse description The obverse is set against a light ground with yellow and black colour accents. The denomination "25 PFENNIG 25" is printed in large bold letterpress type across the upper portion, flanked by the issuing authority inscription "OSTSEEBAD MÜRITZ". The central field carries a multi-line Low German verse (Plattdeutsch) in an ornate blackletter script, framed on either side by woodcut-style vignettes of a hen with chicks at lower left and a rearing bear at lower right. A validity strip at the foot reads "GÜLTIG FÜR DEN GELDVERKEHR INNERHALB DES ORTSGEBIETES BIS 28.2.1922", followed by the issuer line "DIE BADEVERWALTUNG" with manuscript signatures.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in a bold palette of red, yellow, and blue-grey. A scrolled banner at the top bears the legend "REUTERGELD" in red letterpress. The central vignette, framed by a rectangular border, presents a woodcut-style seascape at dusk with two sailing vessels on the Baltic, rendered in dramatic sweeping lines evoking an Expressionist graphic style. Large stylised numeral "25" corner pieces in red flank the central frame, with "OSTSEEBAD MÜRITZ" inscribed in yellow and blue below. The artist's signature "Egon Tschirch" appears in the upper right corner.

Comments

Müritz's 1922 Notgeld series was designed by Egon Tschirch, a Neubrandenburg-based painter and graphic artist with genuine regional standing — his involvement wasn't incidental decoration but a deliberate civic choice at a time when many municipalities were commissioning serious artists to produce collectible emergency currency. The practice had become almost a cottage industry by 1922, with towns competing for collector interest to generate hard income during the hyperinflationary spiral.

The DeNG reference splits this into variants 1-2/3, indicating at minimum two distinct printings or paper types within the series. Worth confirming before pricing.
