| Obverse description | Light green note with a light blue tint underprint, printed in black and blue by letterpress. At top, a bold blackletter header reads 'Notgeld der Stadt Neusalz (Oder)'; the large denomination numeral '25' and the word 'Pfennig' are centred in dark blue blackletter script. Neusalz an der Oder — now Nowa Sól in western Poland — issued this Notgeld during the coin shortage that followed the First World War, when German municipalities were left to paper over the gap in small-denomination currency themselves. Carl Flemming & T. C. Wiskott in Glogau (Głogów) handled a substantial volume of municipal Notgeld printing for Silesian towns during this period, making them one of the more prolific regional printers of the series.
The Magistrat's authority to issue such notes was provisional and locally sanctioned, not backed by the Reichsbank.
