| Obverse description | The left panel carries an oval vignette with a bust portrait of Otto von Bismarck in profile facing left, set against a red ground and framed by a laurel spray, with a four-line German verse below reading 'Auf Bismarker Boden / Wuchs Bismarcks Geschlecht / Welch Erbe, Ihr Bismarker / Wahret es recht.'
