Obverse description The upper portion of the note is dominated by the heraldic arms of Schwaan — a crowned shield bearing a swan, flanked by elaborate red acanthus scrollwork and two outward-facing swans rendered in a bold Jugendstil woodcut style against a grey-green ground, with the denomination '25 Pfs.' printed in Gothic script at upper left and right. A broad red horizontal band across the centre carries the issuer legend in white Gothic lettering. Below, the validity date and two manuscript signatures appear alongside printed authority designations in German script, with the artist's name 'H. Kaufmann' at lower left and the printer's location 'Oldenburg i.O.' at lower right.
