A large black vignette occupies the centre, showing a detailed view of a Kreuzburg church with a tall steeple set against a stippled night sky scattered with stars and a starburst motif in red. Arching text in bold Gothic script across the upper field reads AM 13. VII. 1816 WURDE GUSTAV FREYTAG IN KREUZBURG GEBOREN, commemorating the birthplace of the German author Gustav Freytag, with the denomination 25 Pfg. repeated in large red numerals at the lower left and right.
