Comments

Darlingerode is a small village in the Harz district, and its municipal notgeld issue of 1921 falls squarely within the second wave of German small-change emergency money — driven not by wartime disruption but by the chronic coin shortage and inflationary pressure of the early Weimar years. Louis Koch of Halberstadt was a regional jobbing printer who supplied notgeld to numerous Harz-area municipalities during this period, working quickly and cheaply to meet demand from dozens of small issuers simultaneously.

The Grabowski reference Gra#258.1-1/3 suggests at least three distinct varieties within this denomination, likely differentiated by serial number style or minor typographic variation.
