Obverse description Notgeld issue printed in black on pale stock within a bold red rectangular border. A circular vignette at upper centre contains a stylised tree set on a small mound. The denomination '25 Pfg.' appears in Gothic blackletter at each corner, and the issuing authority inscription 'Notgeld der Gemeinde Ellerbek' is set in two lines of prominent blackletter script across the centre. Below, a validity clause in roman type states the note loses currency two weeks after a call published in the Pinneberger Tagblatt and Lockstedter Anzeiger, followed by two manuscript signatures for the Gemeindeamtsvorsteher and the Finanzausschuss.

Reverse description A full-width colour vignette in red and ochre tones renders a traditional North German thatched farmstead with two low half-timbered buildings; a figure stands in the foreground and a horse-drawn cart is visible to the right. The scene is framed by an ornate red decorative border with floral corner ornaments, and the denomination numeral '25' appears in Gothic style at upper left and upper right. A scrolled ribbon banner across the lower portion carries a Goethe quotation in cursive script. The artist's signature 'Schreiber' is inscribed in the lower right of the vignette.
