Quedlinburg's 1921 Notgeld issue is one of hundreds of municipal emergency currency series produced across Germany during the hyperinflationary spiral that followed the First World War. What separates some of these local issues from the mass of interchangeable small-town Kleingeldscheine is their printer — H. Meyerding was a Quedlinburg-based firm, meaning the design, typesetting, and production all happened within the same city that issued the notes. No outside contractor, no Bielefeld or Berlin house.
The DeNG reference suffix ".1c" indicates a specific paper or color variant within the 1087.1 type grouping, and collector interest in these sub-variants remains active precisely because Meyerding's production runs were small.
