Obverse description The obverse presents a large panoramic vignette of the town of Hammelburg as seen from across the Saale River, rendered in a detailed engraving style with rolling hills in the background and vineyards in the foreground. Denomination numerals '25' appear in red within decorative cartouches at the upper left and right corners, above the town name in a bold Gothic script header. The lower section contains a rectangular text panel flanked by grapevine ornaments, with the serial number at lower left, the issuing authority, date '1918', and two facsimile signatures with their official titles.

Reverse description The reverse is divided into three vertical panels against a dark stippled ground. The central panel holds a portrait bust of Johann Froben, the noted Renaissance printer born in Hammelburg, set against a red background within a gilt-bordered frame with the inscription 'GEST Aº 1527 BASEL'. The left panel contains the Froben printer's mark — a caduceus device flanked by the name 'FROBEN' within a heraldic cartouche resting on a lion supporter — with the denomination digit '2' below, while the right panel bears the city arms of Basel with a red cross and a heraldic figure, with the digit '5' below; artist signatures 'HEINZ' and 'SCHIESSL' appear at the lower edges of their respective panels.
