| Obverse description | A detailed depiction of the medieval castle-palace of Olite, rendered in fine relief, dominates the lower portion of the obverse, flanking the central perforation on both sides with its characteristic towers and battlements. Above the central hole, the chains of the former Kingdom of Navarre are shown in stylized form, referencing the historic coat of arms of the region. The legend ESPAÑA appears in a curved arc along the upper rim, with the date 1999 positioned to the right of the chains. The engraving, by Luis José Díaz Salas, is executed in a detailed pictorial style characteristic of the Spanish autonomous community commemorative series. |
