Obverse description Second effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, as modelled by Arnold Machin. The Queen is depicted with a draped bust, her hair styled beneath the diadem. The circumferential legend records her regnal title and the Silver Jubilee dates, separated by pellets or stops. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished proof field.

Additional information

Jersey's silver proof version of this crown-sized jubilee issue was struck specifically for the collector market, separate from the cupro-nickel circulation strike. The 1977 Silver Jubilee prompted a wave of commemorative issues across Crown Dependencies and Commonwealth territories, many competing for the same collector dollars simultaneously — Jersey's offering was one of dozens released that year under similar specifications.

KM#44a distinguishes the silver proof from the base metal KM#44, a distinction that matters since the circulation strike saw far wider distribution.
