Saint Helena's wildlife-themed crown issues of the early 2010s were produced largely for the collector market rather than any serious circulation intent — the island's resident population has hovered around 4,000 for decades, making domestic demand for commemorative coinage essentially nil. These were sold primarily through mail-order numismatic distributors, with the silver plating applied to distinguish the collector tier from plain cupro-nickel strikes in the same series.
