Obverse description Uncrowned effigy of King Oscar I facing right, with wavy hair and a full beard, rendered in high relief with fine sculptural detail. The engraver's initials 'L.A.' (for Lea Ahlborn) appear below the neck truncation. A continuous legend encircles the portrait, reading OSCAR SVERIGES NORR. G.O.V. KONUNG, identifying the king as ruler of Sweden, Norway, the Goths, and the Wends. The rim is defined by a finely executed beaded border. The portrait style reflects the classical mid-19th century Scandinavian medallic tradition.
