Sweden's postwar coinage reforms stripped the 25 öre of its traditional higher silver content, and this transitional billon issue — containing just .400 fine silver — reflects the fiscal pressures of maintaining a silver coinage standard while managing rising metal costs. By 1962, silver was abandoned entirely for the denomination, making this the final series to carry any silver at all.
