| Additional information |
The 25 Kuruş denomination has led a peculiar double life in modern Turkish coinage — officially in circulation yet functionally invisible in daily commerce, rendered irrelevant by sustained inflationary pressure that has made sub-lira values nearly meaningless at the point of sale. The Turkish lira lost roughly 80% of its value against the dollar between 2018 and 2023 alone.
KM#1573 represents a continuation of the post-2009 coinage reform series, itself a response to the 2005 redenomination that dropped six zeros from the old lira.
