| Obverse description | Tan-ground Notgeld voucher with a chain-link border frame enclosing a foliate underprint. The heading 'Gutschein der Stadt Eferding.' is set in bold Gothic script across the top. At centre, the municipal coat of arms of Eferding — a red and white shield surmounted by a turbaned figure holding a scroll — is flanked by two red diamond-shaped panels each bearing the denomination numeral '25' in large black Gothic figures with the legend 'Heller' between them. Eferding's 1919 Heller notes belong to the vast wave of Austrian municipal notgeld issued after the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system left small-change supplies in near-total collapse. The Stadtgemeinde authorized its own scrip simply because nothing else was available. Langhammer of Linz handled a significant share of Upper Austrian municipal printing work during this period, which is why so many small-town issues from the region share a family resemblance in typography and layout.
The "large issue" distinction in the Jaksch cataloging separates this from a smaller-format emission of the same denomination — two distinct printings for the same face value, a not uncommon complication in Austrian notgeld that continues to trap collectors.
