Comments

The Bank van de Nederlandse Antillen was established in 1962 following the dissolution of the De Javasche Bank's role in the islands — itself a relic of the Dutch colonial banking structure stretching back to the East Indies. By 1979 the Antillean guilder had been operating as a fully independent currency for nearly two decades, pegged to the US dollar at a fixed rate of 1.79 ANG that has remained essentially unchanged to this day.

Enschedé's involvement in Netherlands Antilles banknotes was longstanding; the Haarlem firm printed the island group's notes across multiple series. P#17 is watermark-only for security — no metallic thread.
