The Judenrat scrip issued inside the Warsaw Ghetto was not voluntary currency — it was a tool of economic isolation. German occupation authorities forced the Jewish Council to issue these notes as the only legal tender within the sealed ghetto walls, effectively severing any financial connection to the outside Polish economy and trapping whatever wealth remained inside a closed system that the occupiers controlled.
The 1943 date places this note in circulation during and after the April Uprising. Very few examples survived the ghetto's destruction.
