The P#248 series spans the final years of Jean-Claude Duvalier's government and its immediate aftermath — he fled Haiti in February 1986, meaning notes dated within this range were issued under two very different political realities. Giesecke & Devrient had held the Haitian printing contract through much of the Duvalier period, providing Munich-produced notes to a state where currency printing oversight was, at best, nominal.

The single security feature — a watermark — reflects the modest specification budget typical of Haitian issues of this period. No security thread, no fluorescent inks.
