Burundi's "Year of the Snake" issues are produced under licensing arrangements common to dozens of small-nation mints that have no domestic bullion tradition — the coins are designed, struck, and distributed entirely outside the country, with Burundi's sovereign authority essentially leased for the occasion. The Banque de la République du Burundi has no meaningful role in production.
Two troy ounces of .999 silver with partial gilding, sold at a premium to spot. The 2025 lunar calendar collector market is crowded, and Burundi-licensed pieces compete directly against issues from Cook Islands, Niue, and Cameroon produced through identical commercial channels.
