Additional information

Burundi has no domestic gold mining industry to speak of, and the Bank of the Republic of Burundi has increasingly relied on foreign minting contracts — primarily Swiss and Belgian facilities — to produce its commemorative bullion program. The 0.5g format places this squarely in the micro-gold category that emerged after 2010 as mints sought entry-level bullion products for gift and novelty markets rather than investment accumulation.

The selective rose gold plating requires a secondary electroplating pass after striking, a process that occasionally produces adhesion inconsistencies at the plating boundary on small-diameter pieces.
