Additional information

The Bahrain Monetary Agency, established in 1973 to replace the Bahrain Currency Board, issued this type through a period of significant constitutional change — Bahrain transitioned from an emirate to a kingdom in February 2002, with Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa assuming the title of king. Coins dated within this window carry the older Agency authority even as the political structure above it was being rewritten.

The Agency itself was superseded by the Central Bank of Bahrain in 2006, making the final years of this type's production effectively the last coinage issued under that institutional name.
