Obverse description The obverse features, within the light-blue niobium centre, a dramatic close-up view of a tunnel boring machine (TBM) cutterhead in full face, its radial cutting arms and disc cutters rendered in precise detail, with the cylindrical body of the machine receding into the background. To the upper left, a mountain range is visible above the tunnel portal, and to the lower left, a multi-storey construction support facility is depicted. The denomination '25 EURO' and date '2013' appear in the upper left field of the silver ring. The legend 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' curves along the lower portion of the silver ring in raised Latin lettering.
