| Obverse description | The Portuguese national arms, a complex shield featuring five inescutcheons charged with bezants arranged in a cross and a bordure of seven castles, occupies the central field. The shield is rendered with fine line engraving typical of Portuguese coinage of this era. The circular legend REPÚBLICA • PORTUGUESA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 25$00 is inscribed in large characters along the lower field. Two small floral rosettes flank the denomination on either side. |
