Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the elaborate quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg surmounted by an archiepiscopal cross and galero with pendant tassels, flanked by two croziers. The date 16-68 is divided across the lower field on either side of the shield. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the composition within the outer border of the square klippe flan.

Reverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the patron saints of Salzburg, Rupertus and Virgilius, depicted seated and facing one another in episcopal vestments, each holding a crozier; between them in the foreground, a representation of Salzburg Cathedral. The surrounding Latin legend names the two saints as patrons of Salzburg, enclosed within the square klippe border.
