Obverse description Central design features the coat of arms of American Samoa, comprising a quartered shield with two crossed traditional fly whisks (fue) overlaid by the Olympic five-ring symbol surmounted by a flaming torch, with five five-pointed stars distributed across the quarters of the shield. To the left and right of the shield, in the border, appear stylised depictions of a traditional Samoan staff (to'oto'o) and a fly whisk.
